Why a boat trip on the Arcachon basin?
To put it simply, you don’t really know the Arcachon Basin until you’ve been there on the water. It’s a truth shared by all locals. From the sea, the landscape is transformed. The Dune du Pilat reveals all its immensity, the Cap Ferret peninsula unveils a wild coastline inaccessible by road, and the colors of the water change with the tides and the sun.
A boat trip on the Bay of Arcachon is not just an activity; it’s an immersion. It’s the only way to get close to the heart of the Île aux Oiseaux, or to feel alone in the world on an ephemeral sandbank.

The Basin is a mosaic of remarkable sites. A boat trip can link them all in one memorable day.

Our tips for a successful day on the water
To make your boat trip on the Bay of Arcachon an unforgettable experience, here are a few recommendations.
- What’s the best time of year? Summer is very pleasant, but spring and autumn are wonderful seasons. The light is softer, there are fewer people on the water, and the atmosphere is quieter.
- Do I need to book? Yes, absolutely! Especially in July and August, and for any private boat rental, it’s advisable to book several days, or even weeks, in advance.
- What to take? Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and water. And don’t forget to bring warm clothing or a windbreaker, as a breeze can quickly pick up on the water.
- What are the safety rules? The Bassin is somewhat technical, with strong currents and shifting sandbanks. Respect the speed limits (5 knots near the coast, 20 knots offshore). Never venture into the Bassin’s entrance passes without a thorough knowledge of the area.
