Practical info for jet skiing in the Bassin d’Arcachon

Jet skiing on the Bay of Arcachon is an accessible and unforgettable experience, but there are a few things you need to know before taking to the water.

First of all, you don’t need a license if you choose a supervised jet ski tour. These outings, accompanied by a qualified instructor, are perfect for discovering the most beautiful corners of the basin without having to deal with navigation constraints. On the other hand, if you want to rent a jet ski on your own, you’ll need a coastal license.

As far as age is concerned, you need to be at least 16 to pilot a jet ski on your own, provided you have a license. As a passenger, the youngest can embark from the age of 12, provided they are accompanied. Some watersports centers also offer introductory courses for teenagers aged 16 and over, even without a license, but always under the supervision of a professional.
